Power 2013 Initial Quality StudySM (IQS), nearly two-thirds of the problems experienced during the first 90 days of new-vehicle ownership are related to vehicle design rather than vehicle components that malfunction. That makes the majority of problems reported by new-vehicle owners far more difficult for dealerships to resolve.

In a formal statement, Chrysler has announced that it will "conduct a voluntary campaign" for the 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty to inspect and, if necessary, "provide an upgrade to the rear structure of the vehicle to better manage crash forces in low-speed impacts."
